Valley City Council beginning to sound like Spokane’s

So far I have yet to see anything positive coming from the creation of the city of Spokane Valley. This latest news of the Spokane Valley City Council, considering privatizing the county libraries, is just another incident of a course of action not well thought out.

Just the fact they would even entertain the idea of choosing a service provider before having a grip on the budget is unbelievable.

This is the same as hiring a contractor to build a house without telling him what his expenses are going to be and expecting him to tell you how much he will charge to build the house. What kind of nonsense is that?

The scary thing is that this council is beginning to sound an awful lot like the Spokane City Council and how many debacles resulting from bad judgment have resulted in millions of dollar being spent on lawsuits?

Please think this thing through a little more thoroughly. Renew the contract with the SCLD through 2005 and spend some time looking at the budget, talking to the people, and see what is not only economically feasible but also what is the most effective and desirable plan to pursue.
