Area Concerts To Include Dave Matthews, Riverfest
It’s not even spring yet, and the summer concert schedule is already filling up.
But it’s not just filling up with any ol’ acts. Some of the top rock and country musicians around are scheduled to visit our area.
Universal Concerts has just added two more big shows to the lineup at the Gorge Amphitheater this summer.
Dave Matthews, a true touring machine, returns to the Gorge May 15 at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale Saturday at 9 a.m. through all Ticketmaster outlets and are $39.90 for gold seats (the closest) and $34.65 for reserved and general admission seats. To order by phone, call Ticketmaster at (206) 628-0888 or (509) 735-0500.
A country music festival called Riverfest ‘98 will also stop in at the amphitheater. Starring Vince Gill, Restless Heart, John Berry and Jo Dee Messina, the show is scheduled for July 19 at 3 p.m. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday through all Ticketmaster outlets. They are $39.90 for gold seats, $32.55 for reserved seats and $26.25 for general admission.
These two acts come on the heels of Universal Concerts announcing it would bring Bob Dylan to the Gorge. However, opening act Van Morrison has dropped off that bill. Universal officials said they have yet to confirm another opening act, and the date for ticket sales has not yet been set.
A three-day Christian music concert called “Creation ‘98” also is scheduled at the Gorge, from July 23-25. Among the artists to perform: D.C. Talk, God’s Property, Supertones, Newsboys, Rebecca St. James and Steven Curtis Chapman. Tickets are available by calling (800) 327-6921 and must be paid for with check, money order, Visa or Mastercard. Ticket prices range from $27 for an individual evening to $32 for an individual day or $73 for all three days.
Closer to home, the Arena has announced that Aerosmith will be joined by Spacehog for the show on April 24. Tickets are already on sale, available through all G&B Select-A-Seat outlets, (800) 325-SEAT, or at the Spokane Arena and Spokane Opera House box offices.
And lastly, although nothing has been confirmed, Alabama press information states it will be appearing in Spokane on May 2 with Kenny Chesney. Stay tuned for more information.
