School Board, Hospital Vets Join Nethercutt
The former president of the Spokane School Board and a longtime spokeswoman for local hospitals joined the staff of U.S. Rep. George Nethercutt this week.
Nancy Fike, who retired from the school board last year, is Nethercutt’s new district director. She will run his Spokane office, replacing Mike Gruber, who is returning to work in Nethercutt’s office in Washington, D.C.
Fike is a former director of the YMCA, Chase Youth Commission and Ronald McDonald House.
Priscilla Gilkey, former vice president of community relations for Empire Health Services, will be Nethercutt’s special adviser on health, child care and education. She’ll spend three months in Washington working on those issues.
Empire Health Services is the holding company for Deaconess and Valley medical centers and St. Luke’s Extended Care Center. Gilkey also worked with the Spokane County Health Improvement Board and the local chapter of the Arthritis Foundation.
