Man Faces Murder Charge In Girl’s Death

From Staff And Wire Reports

King County prosecutors have charged a Skyway, Wash., man with first-degree murder in the raping and strangling death of a 14-year-old Spokane girl.

Corey Scott Beito, 26, is being held on a $1 million cash bond on charges that he killed former Shaw Middle School student Jessica Seim. He will be arraigned in King County Superior Court on Monday, officials with the prosecutor’s office said.

Seim had been living in the Seattle-area suburb with her uncle for about a month. She had befriended Beito and his 19-year-old roommate, and spent a lot of time at their home, King County Sheriff’s officials said. The roommate became suspicious and started looking for Seim after she disappeared for a few days and Beito began bringing home suspicious items, such as carpet freshener, cement and a new garbage can, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

The roommate found Seim’s body last Saturday in a backyard tool shed, officials said.

Beito faces 20 years to life in prison if convicted.

A memorial service for Seim was conducted Friday.
