Home Burns As Fire Crews Fight To Reach It

From Staff And Wire Reports

A south Spokane home was destroyed by fire Monday morning after firefighters had difficulty reaching the home with water, fire officials said.

Firefighters responded about 10:50 a.m. to a fire at 2224 W. 26th, Battalion Chief Dan Brown said.

They found the house fully engulfed in flames. But only one fire engine could get down the road because of ice, Brown said.

The hydrant was at least 800 feet from the home. Other fire engines shuttled water in, Brown said.

Firefighters had the blaze under control in about 15 minutes, Brown said. No one was injured.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. , DataTimes
