West Wins In Shootout

Quinn Hancock of the Prince Albert Cougars scored with a hard wrist shot in a sudden-death shootout Wednesday night as the West edged the East 7-6 in the Western Hockey League’s all-star game.

The game, attended by 6,050 fans, went into the shootout after regulation ended tied at 6. It was still tied after each team took its five shootout chances, with one goal apiece.

Hancock finally beat Evan Lindsay of the Prince Albert Raiders.

League points leader Sergei Varlamov of the Swift Current Broncos scored two goals and added an assist. He was voted East MVP.

Marian Cisar of the Spokane Chiefs scored just under four minutes into the second period.
