Golden Globes Boost Nbc Ratings

Add another Golden Globe winner to the list: NBC. The award show contributed to the network’s dominance in the weekly ratings and its second consecutive first-place showing.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association ceremony attracted a total of 24.3 million viewers Sunday night, NBC said Tuesday.

NBC won the week with the top eight shows, an 11.4 average rating and a 19 share, far ahead of second-place CBS’ 8.9 rating and 14 share. ABC followed with an 8.2 rating and 13 share, according to Nielsen Media Research figures.

Fox logged a 6.7 rating and 11 share.

Prime time ratings as compiled by Nielsen Media Research for Jan. 12-18. Listings include the week’s ranking, with rating for the week, season-to-date rankings in parentheses, and total homes.

An “X” in parentheses denotes one-time-only presentation. A rating measures the percentage of the nation’s estimated 97 million TV homes. Each ratings point represents 980,000 households.
