Church Looks To Super Bowl Manito Methodist Calling Watch-Eat Option For Game Party

If you want to watch the Super Bowl in a family-friendly atmosphere, try attending the Super Bowl party at Manito United Methodist Church. The church will open its doors to football fans on Sunday for the game.

Those attending are asked to bring their favorite snack foods to share. There will be board games and other activities for children and non-football fans.

The football game begins at 3 p.m. but people are invited to come early for the pre-game show.

The church is located at 3220 S. Grand Blvd.

Also on Sunday, the youth of the Mead United Methodist Church will lead the 8:45 and 11 a.m. worship services at Manito United Methodist. A free-will offering will be collected to help the youths cover their travel expenses for an upcoming trip to Mexico to build houses.

‘Frantic Families’ will be topic

First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar, will host a workshop called “Frantic Families” from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday. The class will be taught be Patty Seebeck, a wife, mom and businesswoman. The workshop will provide tips and ideas on how today’s busy parents can carve time for themselves out of the day to do some favorite activities, whether it is chatting with friends, seeing a movie or even taking a nap.

The workshop will be repeated on two Sundays: Feb. 1 and 8.

Band will play on Saturday

Joy Electric will be performing at 7 p.m. Saturday at Central United Methodist Church, 518 W. Third.

The California based band plays techno-rock, a mix of synthesized music and vocals.

The cost of the concert is $5 at the door.

Fellowship meal planned in Cheney

The Cheney Community Church, 1307 Third, will host a fellowship dinner after its 10:45 a.m. worship service Sunday. New members or those interested in becoming members are invited to attend and meet the congregation.

The dinner is potluck, but people are encouraged to come even if they don’t bring a dish to share.
