Celine Dion’s Album Outsells Brooks’ ‘Sevens’

Canadian songbird Celine Dion has finally lassoed the top spot at the nation’s music retailers, ousting country superstar Garth Brooks after five weeks, according to SoundScan figures released by Dion’s label.

In its seventh week of release, Dion’s “Let’s Talk About Love” - her follow-up to “Falling Into You,” the biggest selling album of 1996 - sold an impressive 284,000 copies to jump to No. 1 for the week ended Jan.

4. Dion sold 624,000 copies the previous week but was denied the top spot by Brooks’ “Sevens,” which sold 684,000 copies.

Dion distanced herself from the megaselling Brooks by more than 100,000 copies. Brooks’ “Sevens” sold 156,000, down significantly.
