Bucs’ Stuenkel Finds Range Sherer Adds Scoring Punch In Whitworth’s Handy Victory

Emily Stuenkel bounced back from a horrendous shooting night to score 17 points Sunday, helping Whitworth defeat winless Evergreen State 61-50 in a non-conference women’s basketball game at Whitworth.

Stuenkel made seven of her 13 field-goal attempts, including her only 3-pointer, sank both of her free throws and earned five assists as the Pirates boosted their record to 2-6. Teammate Andrea Sherer also made a good showing with 15 points on the strength of 7-for-12 shooting.

Each contributed seven steals to Whitworth’s whopping total of 28.

Stuenkel shot 1 for 13 when Whitworth bowed to Western Baptist on Friday night.

Evergreen State fell to 0-12.
