Major Ski Race Planned For Teens
Ski racing for Inland Northwest teenagers got a big boost this week when a Spokane real estate company announced plans for a major race at Mount Spokane in March.
Mount Spokane’s inaugural Snowfest Team Dualies, a head-to-head ski race with four-person teams, is scheduled for March 14.
Teams of all-male, all-female, or coed skiers in two age groups (13-15 and 16-18) will race each other.
All races will be held up the mountain from lodge one at the Mt. Spokane Ski Resort.
“We’re doing this purely for community reasons,” said Mark Pinch, president of Tomlinson Black Commercial Inc., the real estate company that is sponsoring the race.
“We’re particularly impressed with the direction Mount Spokane has taken under the leadership of the new Mt. Spokane 2000 group. We know Spokane has a great history of promoting sports events for kids and we’d like this race to grow into something big for the wintertime.”
Registration forms for the race can be picked up at LouLou’s, Wintersport, Sports Creel, Pedersen’s, Alpine Haus and most other ski shops.
The registration deadline is March 9. Completed registration forms need to be sent to Tomlinson Black Commercial Inc., 107 S. Howard, Suite 500, Spokane, WA 99218, attention Jan King.
Mount Spokane season pass holders will pay a $10 entry fee to race. A $20 entry fee will be charged those who aren’t season pass holders.
