Hidden Highness

A photograph of Prince John, a younger brother of King Edward VIII who was hidden from public view because he was an epileptic, appeared Wednesday reportedly the first picture ever published of the boy, who died in childhood. The Independent newspaper of London said its picture of John was among two albums of photographs belong ing to the Duke of Windsor, John’s eldest brother. The Duke of Windsor reigned for less than a year as Edward VIII before abdicating in 1936 to marry a twice-divorced American, Wallis Simpson. John, who was born in 1905 and died in 1919, lived mostly in a home with his nanny at Sandringham, the royal estate in eastern England.
