Higher seeds took a hit as the Bi-County League boys basketball tournament began Tuesday with loser-out games at Reardan.
Eighth-seeded Davenport edged No. 5 Ritzville 65-63, while No. 7 Liberty stopped No. 6 Sprague-Harrington 57-46. S-H had defeated Liberty twice during the league season and Ritzville had won its league counter against Ritzville.
The tourney shifts to a double-elimination format Friday night, with Davenport (8-14) against fourth-seeded Almira/Coulee-Hartline (12-8) and Liberty (7-14) against No. 3 Odessa (13-6).
Both games are at 7:30.

Cody Rodenbough and Dale Buchanan combined for seven 3-pointers and 17 third-quarter points to eliminate the Broncos (10-11).
Danny Duff hit five 3-pointers for Ritzville, while league scoring champion Dustan Arlt scored 17 of his 23 in the second half.

Wenchi Liu had eight assists and seven of her team’s 24 steals as the fourth-ranked Dragons (17-2) used a 19-4 second-half run to pull away from the visiting Hornets (8-12) in an opener of the double-elimination tourney.
Alyssa Henley added 13 rebounds for St. George’s, which has played its last five games without scoring leader Miranda Routh-Corker (viral bronchitis/flu). Routh-Corker is doubtful for Friday’s 6 p.m., winner-to-district home game against Northport.
Inchelium plays a loser-out at the same time at Northwest Christian.

Brad Bischoff hit two free throws with 2 seconds left and the Vikings (17-4) used an 8-0 run in the final 2 minutes to edge the Eagles (15-5) at Endicott and secure the No. 1 seed to the league tournament and automatic district berth.
The Vikings will play for the tourney title at 5:30 p.m. Monday. The opponent will be Saturday’s winner between No. 2 SJE and No. 3 LaCrosse-Washtucna (7-13).
