Kelowna Defense Once Again Stifles Chiefs’ Scorers

The Spokane Chiefs’ scoring woes against the Kelowna Rockets continued Tuesday night as the Chiefs dropped a 5-2 decision in Western Hockey League action in Kelowna, British Columbia.

The Chiefs (35-17-3) have managed just four goals in the past three games against the Rockets (23-25-2). Spokane has lost all three.

Bruce Harrison put Kelowna on the board in the first period when the puck bounced from his skate under goalie David Haun at the 12:37 mark. Bryan Randall made it 2-0 at the end of the first with help from Jason Deleurme at 18:09.

Randall scored his first WHL hat trick with two more goals in the third. The first came at 1:20, the second at 8:08.

Spokane got on the board on a power-play goal by Greg Leeb at 9:14 in the third. Ty Jones scored the Chiefs’ other goal at 13:49.

For the Chiefs it was the end of their three-game win streak.

The Chiefs return home Friday at 7 p.m. when they take on the Portland Winter Hawks in the Arena.
