Rainstorm Causes Problems In Boise
A storm that dumped about four-tenths of an inch of rain on the Boise Foothills in just 10 minutes caused flash flooding and prompted the voluntary evacuation of some parts of the city’s north side Thursday night.
The National Weather Service issued a flash-flood warning for the Reserve Street and St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center areas because of fast-rising water along Cottonwood Creek.
High water also hit the Crane Creek and Hulls Gulch areas, and some flood damage to homes and other buildings was reported.
The Red Cross set up an evacuation center at Les Bois Junior High School on the city’s southeast side.
Trenches were dug and straw dams were installed last winter as a hedge against erosion and flooding.
