Dollar Hits Two-Month Low Vs. Mark
The dollar hit a twomonth low against the mark Thursday as traders turned to the German currency after a report that Japan’s economy shrank sharply in the second quarter.
With Germany’s economy expanding, traders boosted the mark to a nearly three-month high against the yen, in turn pushing the dollar lower against the mark and slightly higher vs. the yen.
In late New York trading, the dollar settled at 1.7805 marks, down from 1.7990 late Wednesday, and its lowest level since July 11.
