Leafs Name Dryden President

Compiled From Wire Services

Hall of Fame goaltender Ken Dryden was named president of the Toronto Maple Leafs, replacing recently fired president and general manager Cliff Fletcher.

Dryden, 49, was also named executive vice president of Maple Leafs Gardens, Ltd., which oversees the business side of the organization, including the building of a new home for the Maple Leafs.

His first responsibility is finding a new general manager for the team. Dryden won the Stanley Cup six times in his eight-year career with the Montreal Canadiens.

The Montreal Canadiens fired assistant coaches Yvan Cournoyer, Steve Shutt and Jacques Laperriere, all members of the Hockey Hall of Fame.
