King County Targets Graduation Keggers
King County police will begin a special patrol this weekend to crack down on underage drinking parties.
Eight detectives and officers in the North Precinct will target parties, relying on tips from neighbors and parents and visiting known “hot spots.”
“Young people have an innate sense of invincibility from injury due to drinking and driving,” Sheriff David Reichert said in a letter explaining the special patrol to parents of high school students in the North Precinct area.
“It is my hope that the likely consequence of arrest, trial and loss of driving privileges may seem more real and immediate.”
Tacoma and other cities also will make special patrol efforts in June, as teens get ready to celebrate graduation.
