Canadian Tennis Player To Have Brain Surgery

Associated Press

Canadian tennis player Helen Kelesi will have surgery next week to remove another brain tumor. Kelesi, who lives in North Vancouver, released a hand-written statement Friday detailing her medical situation.

“My doctors informed me they have discovered another tumor,” said Kelesi. “They have assured me this one is far less dangerous and predict I’ll be able to start training again this summer and be able to compete in tournaments this fall.

“I told them I’ll beat that schedule.”

Kelesi, 27, is scheduled to have the surgery Tuesday in Vancouver and is expected to spend a week in the hospital.
