No Timetable Set For Return Of Langston

The Orange County Register

Angels medical director Lewis Yocum performed arthroscopic surgery Tuesday on left-hander Mark Langston’s pitching elbow, removing inflamed and damaged tissue during a procedure at Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood.

However, Manager Terry Collins knows as much about Langston’s availability as he did Friday, when Langston was placed on the 15-day disabled list. That is, nothing.

“No timetable. That’s not good news,” Collins said before the Angels’ 6-2 loss Tuesday to the Detroit Tigers. “I don’t know what that means. Eight weeks? Two months? Three months? Hopefully, Mark becomes the fast healer that he is and gets back. To lose him for any length of time certainly is a blow for us.”

Rookie left-hander Matt Perisho has been placed in Langston’s starting slot. Perisho made his major-league debut Tuesday and was the losing pitcher.
