Let’s All Go Out And Sin One For The Gifford

Compiled By Staff Writer Rick Bo

So what’s really going on with Frank and Kathie Lee Gifford in the wake of his videotaped dalliance with a flight attendant?

“Right now, they’re down in the basement and the wind is howling outside,” marriage counselor Gary Smalley tells People magazine.

“I sensed right from the beginning that they are both very interested in working this out,” said Smalley, who featured the Giffords in his “Growing in Love” infomercial a few years ago.

Frank “has been so consistent to say how sorry he is, with tears and everything else,” although Kathie Lee remains angry.

“When I think of couples with the courage to go on, they are near the top of the list,” Smalley says.

Even Frank’s second wife, Astrid Gifford, is pulling for them. “I hope Kathie Lee gives him another chance,” she tells People.

At a commencement speech over the weekend, Ralph Nader urged University of Dayton law graduates to stick to their principles, no matter what future clients might ask. “You go through life like legal Magoos, focusing very narrowly on retainers and forsaking the big picture,” the consumer advocate said. “Who is to say no to powerful clients if not their attorneys, who are supposed to be their counselors?”

Well, maybe so, but at least he got the girl
