Woman Shot To Death In Gang-Related Argument
A 23-year-old woman was shot to death early Sunday after arguing with rival gang members, and an 18-year-old man was arrested soon afterward, police said.
A small caliber semiautomatic weapon was recovered after the fatal shooting of Maya L. Streeter in the Hilltop area, police spokesman Jim Mattheis said.
Derek Spencer was booked into the Pierce County Jail for investigation of first-degree murder and three counts of first-degree assault.
“She’s a known gang affiliate. So is (Spencer),” Mattheis said. “Rival gangs.”
He said gang members in parked cars exchanged taunts and hand signals after Streeter and some friends arrived at a house where a party was being held. She was shot in the passenger side of a car.
Police were called shortly after the shooting and arrived within a minute, Mattheis said.
