10-Year-Old Runs Over Mother In Car

Compiled From Wire Services

A woman who allowed her 10-year-old son to back the family car down the driveway stumbled while directing the boy and was fatally run down when he stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake.

The 28-year-old woman died Friday. Her name was withheld. The boy was unhurt.

Police say witnesses gave the following account: About 5:30 p.m., the woman’s son and a friend wanted to play basketball in the driveway, but the car was in the way. The boy agreed to move the car himself.

While the mother stood behind the car, helping guide the maneuver, she stumbled after walking backward into a bush.

The boy then panicked and backed over his mother.
