Spokane Police Sound Burglar Alarm
Spokane police are reminding people to lock their windows, doors, garages and storage sheds after a rash of burglaries and thefts.
Officers have taken more than 70 reports in the past two weeks of burglaries and thefts involving unlocked residences and open garages.
“Citizens need to remember that most burglaries and thefts involve unlocked or open windows and doors,” said Lt. Jim Culp.
“Burglars also look for someone working outside in one part of their yard while a door at the other side of the house is unlocked. They can be in and out before you even know a burglary has occurred.”
Culp said tools in garages, unattended bicycles and recreational items left in yards are favorite targets of burglars.
“The likelihood of getting those stolen items back is almost zero,” he said.
