Salvage Timber Sale Sought At Priest Lake
The Priest Lake Ranger District is proposing a salvage timber sale to log about 530 acres containing trees damaged during last year’s ice storm.
About 800,000 board feet of timber, enough to build 80 homes, would be salvaged in the proposed sale, according to District Ranger Kent Dunstan.
The trees are scattered throughout the district, but Forest Service officials don’t plan to build any new logging roads.
Tractors would be used to skid the downed trees to the roads from about 45 acres of the proposed sale. Most of the salvage would be within 200 feet of roads.
Questions and comments on the proposal should be directed to Dave Cobb by June 10, at (208) 443-2513, Priest River Ranger Station, HCR 5 Box 207, Priest River, ID 83856.
