School Districts Seek Voters’ Support Today
Voters in three school districts will go the polls today to consider ballot issues that would pay for more classrooms, renovations and instruction.
Today also is the last day to postmark ballots for the Liberty School District special election. The $6.3 million bond issue would pay for a new junior high school building, expansion of the overcrowded elementary and high school buildings, and modernization of facilities.
Voters who have lost the ballot can obtain a replacement at the Spokane County Elections Department, 1116 W. Broadway Ave., on the second floor of the Spokane County Courthouse.
Medical Lake School District voters will decide a $6.25 million bond for modernization and an addition to Medical Lake High School. Voters can cast their ballots at their regular polling places.
If the bond passes, the district is eligible for $7.6 million in state matching money.
Voters in the Orchard Prairie School District special election must cast their ballots at Fire District 9, Station 4, 8118 E. Bigelow Gulch Road.
The $52,000 maintenance and operation levy would help provide transportation and pay the costs of students who attend Mead and West Valley high schools. The district has no high school.
The Reardan-Edwall School District special election will be handled by Lincoln County. The $162,000 special levy would provide additional classrooms to the high school and repair the ventilation system in the high school shop.
