Full-Court Press By Stadium Backers
Supporters of Paul Allen’s bid to buy the Seattle Seahawks will fan out across Washington today in a last-minute bid to register people to vote in next month’s special election on a new football stadium.
Saturday marks the last day that people can mail in a voter registration form, which is the easiest way to sign up.
The registration books for the June 17 election will remain open until June 2, but people will have to sign up in person at their county auditor’s office after this weekend.
Voters are being asked to approve a $300 million public investment in a $425 million stadium and exhibition center that would replace the Kingdome, home of the Seahawks. The rest of the cost would be covered by Allen and a sales tax deferral.
