Carl ‘Ray’ Lundgren Medical Lake

Memorial Service for Carl “Ray” Lundgren, 79, will be at 2 p.m. May 17 at the Cheney Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Lundgren, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died Wednesday.

He was a graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School and the University of Idaho.

In 1941 he married Betty Ostrom in Coeur d’Alene.

He served in the Pacific Theater with the Navy during World War II. Mr. Lundgren moved to the Medical Lake area in 1957, and worked for state as a personnel director at the Lakeland Village and Eastern State Hospital. He retired in 1982.

He was a charter member of the Cheney-Medical Lake Rotary Club and was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Lundgren; two sons, Carl Lundgren of Kooskia, Idaho, and James Lundgren of Medical Lake; a sister, Dorothy Lee of Hansville, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cheney Rotary Club Scholarship Fund or the Cheney Care Center.

Floyd Hayden Sr. Spokane

Vigil service for Floyd Neal Hayden Sr., 74, will be at 7 p.m. today at the Hennessey Valley Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

Mr. Hayden, who was born in Chanute, Kan., died Monday.

He moved to Spokane 41 years ago and created business cards. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Brotherhood of Friends and the Valley Eagles. He was a World War II veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Loretta; a son, Floyd Hayden Jr., of Stockton, Calif.; a daughter, Alice Hunt of Spokane; five brothers, Floyd Clover of Tennessee, Bernard Hayden of Kansas, Gene Hayden of Oklahoma, Thomas Smith of California and Ed Parry of Spokane; two sisters, Ruth McKim of Oklahoma and Lucille Charlesworth of Kansas; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

Charles Scott Coeur d’Alene

Visitation for Charles Francis Scott, 82, will be Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will take place in Portland.

Mr. Scott, who was born in Plummer, Idaho, died Tuesday.

He graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School and attended the University of Idaho for one year, before serving with the Marine Corps during World War II.

Mr. Scott was captured at Corregidor in 1942 and was held until 1945.

He worked as a bridge inspector throughout the Northwest and California. For the past 20 years, he worked as an engineer Forest Service.

Mr. Scott retired in Portland and moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1992.

His wife, Alberta, preceded him in death.

Survivors include two brothers, Orland Scott and Don Scott, both of Coeur d’Alene.

Marjorie La Shaw Spokane

Graveside memorial service for Marjorie (Norman) La Shaw, 63, will be at noon Saturday at the Fairview Cemetery in Rockford. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. La Shaw, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Saturday.

She was a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School and worked as a bookkeeper for Evco Electronics, Columbia Lighting, Mica Brick Plant and Kershaw Office Supply.

Mrs. La Shaw is survived by her husband of 44 years, Donald “Pat” La Shaw; a son, Douglas La Shaw of Spokane; four daughters, Judy La Shaw of Fort Worth, Texas, and Patty Sullivan, Janice Anderson and Diane La Shaw, all of Spokane; a brother, Vernon Norman of San Diego; four sisters, Mary Ann of Oklahoma City, and Myrtle Caudill, Clelia Reynolds and Lois La Shaw, all of Spokane; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Walter Myers Kingston, Idaho

Memorial service for Walter Myers, 68, will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Mr. Myers, who was born in Conrad, Mont., died Wednesday. He attended the University of Montana for two years and served with the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He settled in Seattle in 1952.

Mr. Myers worked as a building contractor in the Seattle area for 20 years, before moving to Kingston in 1972.

Survivors include his wife, Grace; three daughters, Deborah Myers of Oregon, Brenda Pendergast of Chewelah, Wash., and Joy Wolff of Seattle; a brother, Gilbert Myers of Oregon; three sisters, Lil Engstrom of Battle Ground, Wash., Val Tillman of Bridgeport, Wash., and Lucille Johnson of Kellogg; and four grandchildren.

Albert Mitchell Colfax, Wash.

Burial service for Albert Mitchell, 91, will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Colfax Cemetery. Memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Colfax. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mitchell, a lifetime Colfax resident, died Wednesday.

He graduated from Colfax High School and worked on the family farm.

In 1933 he married Bessie Johnson in Colfax.

Mr. Mitchell was a member of the First Baptist Church and the N & S Palouse Grange.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Gerald Mitchell of Colfax; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Colfax Church of the Nazarene Organ Fund.

Vernette Larson Spokane

Private burial for Vernette Marie Larson, 91, was at the Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Larson, a longtime Spokane resident, died Saturday.

She was born in Paxton, Ill., and was a homemaker.

Her husband, Carl “Renny” Larson, died in 1988. Mrs. Larson is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.

Howard Slinger Hayden Lake, Idaho

Graveside memorial service for Howard James Slinger, 83, will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. Yates Funeral Home-Hayden Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Slinger, who was born in Oak Park, Ill., died Dec. 5. He grew up and attended school in California.

Mr. Slinger worked for the Permanente Cement Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1970, and moved to Hayden Lake.

His wife, Hazel, died in 1994.

Survivors include a son, R.G. Slinger of Kellogg; and a niece, Linda Solsma of California.

Rose Starr Spokane

Memorial service for Rose Marie Starr, 68, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cremation Society of Washington.

Ms. Starr died Tuesday.

She was a Lewis and Clark High School graduate and a 45-year Spokane resident.

Ms. Starr is survived by a son, James Starr of Greenacres; a half sister, Gettie May Badger of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Eva Wenzloff Spokane

Memorial service for Eva Ann Wenzloff, 62, will be at noon Saturday at the Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wenzloff, who was born in Charlo, Mont., died Monday.

She was a 61-year Spokane resident, and worked at the Town and Country Restaurant for 38 years.

Mrs. Wenzloff is survived by her husband, Wendell; a sister, Dormay Zumwalt, and a brother, Jerry West both of Charlo.

Reuben Becker Spokane

Service for Reuben G. Becker, 84, is planned for 1 p.m. today at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be at the Spokane Memorial Gardens. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Reuben, who was born in Menno, S.D., died Tuesday.

He was a Spokane resident since 1944, and had owned the Tower Restaurant and the Rusty Key Restaurant. He retired in 1974.

Mr. Becker was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Tillie Becker; a daughter, Janice Lockett, and a son, Larry Becker, both of Spokane; two sisters in South Dakota; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Patricia Corrigan Spokane

Funeral Mass for Patricia A. Corrigan, 58, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in the Spokane Valley. Hennesey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Corrigan, who was a lifetime Spokane resident, died Tuesday.

She owned The Travel Place and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and Catholic Professional Women’s Organization.

Ms. Corrigan is survived by three brothers, John Corrigan of Issaquah, Wash., Mike Corrigan of Aurora, Colo., and Bob Corrigan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Poor Clare Nuns or Morning Star Boys Ranch.

Martha Walter Odessa, Wash.

Memorial service for Martha Walter, 85, will be at 11 a.m. today at the Odessa Cemetery Chapel. Inurnment will be at the Odessa Cemetery. Strate Funeral Home in Odessa is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Walter, who was born in Quincy, Wash., died Tuesday.

She attended cosmetology school in Spokane and worked as a beautician in Odessa. She moved to Spokane and owned several beauty shops, before returning to Odessa.

Survivors include a brother, David Walter of Mesa, Ariz.; and a sister, Esther Wilson of Seattle.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Odessa Healthcare Foundation.

Elizabeth ‘Jane’ Will Spokane

Memorial service for Elizabeth “Jane” Will, 90, is set for 11 a.m. Monday at the Centenary United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Moberly, Mo. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.

Mrs. Will, who was born in Moberly, died Wednesday.

She was a 50-year Spokane resident and a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

She and her husband Adolph “Bill” Will were co-owners of Wolfe and Will Real Estate Company.

Her husband died in 1982.

There are no surviving family members.

Rayfield La Mere Spokane

Memorial service for Rayfield J. La Mere, 76, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hillyard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. La Mere, who was born in Shankin, Mont., died April 28.

He was a 19-year Spokane resident and worked as a general laborer.

He served in the Army from 1942 to 1946.

Survivors include a cousin, Paula Ellery of Spokane.
