Whalers Will Move

The Hartford Whalers are set to move to North Carolina, bringing the NHL to another untapped region.

A news conference to make “a major announcement” was scheduled for today. Whalers owner Peter Karmanos and team executives will attend, according to reports.

“We expect to announce that Karmanos will move to North Carolina,” Raleigh Chamber of Commerce president Harvey Schmitt told The Associated Press.
