Developer Requests Rezone For Argonne Office Complex

Developer Dennis Raugust is requesting a rezone on a 1.2-acre parcel of land just west of Argonne Road.

Raugust already is constructing the Boulder Creek office complex at 505 N. Argonne on land zoned for commercial uses.

The parcel Raugust is seeking to rezone is located west of Boulder Creek. It is zoned residential. Raugust is requesting the land be zoned solely for commercial use.

Spokane County senior planner Stacy Bjordahl said Raugust will more than likely build more offices if the rezone is approved.

The office complex, being built by Spokane Structures, will be an eighttenant, two story building, according to permits issued for the project. A public hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday at the Spokane County Public Works Building, 1026 W. Broadway.

Valley firefighter honored

Scott Crawford was named Spokane Valley Firefighter of the Year this week by the Valley Lions Club.

Crawford, who was recommended by Valley Fire District officials for his outgoing personality, was honored during a ceremony Monday night.

Crawford volunteers for several fire district projects each year, most recently assisting in public safety education events.

Disabilities position available

Spokane County commissioners are accepting applications for one opening on the community services development disabilities advisory board.

The disabilities advisory board, which has one opening, prioritizes services, reviews applications for funding, comments on community service department plans, and evaluates annual performance for contracted services.

The community development advisory board also has openings as part of its continuous recruitment practice.

Anyone interested in the positions should submit a resume and application by May 15. Application forms are available in the commissioners’ office, 1116 W. Broadway.
