Reitman’s Afraid He’s Got The Wrong Woman

Compiled By Staff Writer Rick Bo

As Ellen DeGeneres’ partner, actress Anne Heche is suddenly the second most-celebrated lesbian in America.

Which doesn’t sit well with Ivan Reitman, director of “6 Days, 7 Nights,” a romantic comedy that will pair Heche with Harrison Ford.

“It’s all starting to feel like a Jackie Collins novel,” Reitman said earlier this week. If the hoopla over Heche’s sexuality doesn’t die down, he said, “I think it will do the movie some harm, and that makes me nervous.”

As for Heche, he added: “I don’t think she is homosexual, by the way. I think she is probably bisexual. She’s gone out with all kinds of guys.”

After the flak from gay groups started pouring in, Reitman issued a subsequent statement saying he and Ford “are enthusiastically looking forward to working with (Heche).”

Loose talk

Shaquille O’Neal (“Kazaam”), on fellow hoop-cummovie star Dennis Rodman (“Double Team”): “If he was on fire, he couldn’t act as if he were burning.”

She’s looking good, for a Cybill war veteran

Christine Baranski turns 45 today.

So why would she start shying away now?

Former “Baywatch” babe Pamela Lee (nee Anderson) spent the week in court defending herself against a $5 million breach of contract lawsuit brought by the producers of the Showtime movie “Hello, She Lied.” Lee says she never actually signed anything, and was uncomfortable with sex scenes in the script. Replied an attorney for the production company: “Your honor, this is Pamela Anderson. Pamela Anderson has never done a project outside television that did not have nudity.”

The first display of her paranormal talents

The 1992 film “The Turning” has gained new life in the video rental world, the New York Post reports, thanks to Gillian Anderson’s topless love scene on a kitchen floor in her days before “The X-Files.”

Anyone care for a little more Mulder whine?

Anderson’s “X-Files” co-star, David Duchovny, on his early career (in Movieline magazine): “I went on lots of auditions that I didn’t get. I really wanted to do ‘Bull Durham.’ I read for the role that Tim Robbins got and met with the director, Ron Shelton, and I met with him again for ‘White Men Can’t Jump,’ which, obviously, I didn’t get, either. I read for the part Colin Firth got in ‘Valmont.’ I read for tons of television, but I never got any of that except ‘Twin Peaks.’ I just figured I must really be bad.”

It gives a whole new meaning to ‘captain’s log’

Former “Star Trek” space case William Shatner has penned a piece for Men’s Health magazine titled “How to Boldly Go,” all about wilderness latrine etiquette. Writes Shatner: “If you are caught with your pants down and the wrong lifeform is massed at your flanks, you’ll be one miserable customer down at sick bay.”
