California Condors Moved To Arizona
Northern Arizona is home to nine more California condors.
Biologists on Tuesday transported the birds from the Los Angeles Zoo to the Vermilion Cliffs, near the Utah border.
The birds will remain there in cages for several weeks to acclimate before being freed into the skies over the Colorado Plateau.
They will join five others that were released in the same area Dec. 12 as part of a federal-state-private effort to reintroduce the scavenger into the Southwest so it can be removed from the endangered-species list.
