Liberty Go To 4-0 Before Record Crowd

Vickie Johnson scored 20 points and the New York Liberty remained the only unbeaten team in the WNBA with a 65-57 victory over the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday in New York.
The game was the first at home for the Liberty (4-0) and drew a crowd of 17,780 to Madison Square Garden, the largest ever to watch a women’s professional game in North America.
The Mercury (2-2), which never led and managed just one tie at 27-27 early in the second half, trailed 46-35 midway through the second half as the Liberty went on a 10-0 run.
Jennifer Gillom scored 20 of her 23 points in the second half for the Mercury.

Andrea Stinson had 19 points and 10 assists as Charlotte beat Cleveland for its first victory.
Stinson, a former North Carolina State star, also had five rebounds and two steals as the Sting (1-3) opened their home schedule before a crowd of 7,289 at the Charlotte Coliseum.
Vicky Bullett added 12 points and Rhoda Mapp 11 for the Sting, while Isabelle Fijalkowski led the Rockers (1-3) with 15 points.
