Bond Set At $100,000 For Shooting Suspect

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 21-year-old man accused of shooting a Spokane teenager to death was ordered held Friday on $100,000 bond.

Jeremy Conwell is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Ricky Franetich, 15.

Detectives say Conwell shot Franetich in the chest and head with a .45-caliber pistol Thursday after the two got into an altercation at Minnehaha Park in northeast Spokane.

The two were attending a drinking party at the park when Franetich tried to break up an argument between Conwell and the man’s 17-year-old girlfriend, police said.

Conwell told detectives Franetich hit him in the face for no reason prior to the shooting. The suspect later turned himself in at the Public Safety Building.
