Crews Hunt For Missing Boaters

The Coast Guard searched Monday for two men reported missing after a weekend boating trip in the San Juan Islands.

The search was concentrated near Moresby Island in Canadian waters, where a bench seat was found Monday and identified as belonging to the boat, Coast Guard Lt. Greg Pierce said.

Dan Bentzen, 35, of Friday Harbor, and his passenger, Jimmy McElhenie, 25, left Bedwell Harbor at Pender Island on Bentzen’s 23-foot pleasure boat shortly after midnight Saturday.
