Donald Johnson Garfield, Wash.
Graveside memorial service for Donald M. Johnson, 92, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Garfield Cemetery. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Johnson, who was born in St. Charles, Minn., died Friday.
He attended Carlton College in Northfield, Minn., and the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis.
In 1927 he moved to Garfield and worked as an assistant cashier for the Garfield National Bank, later known as State National Bank of Garfield, which his father and uncles had established. He retired as bank president in 1975 but remained as chairman of the board of directors.
Mr. Johnson had served as mayor of Garfield, and also on the Garfield City Council and as city treasurer.
He was a member of the Whitman County Banker’s Association, Group II of the Washington State Banker’s Association, and the executive committee of the Washington State Banker’s Association.
He was also a member of the Anchor Masonic Lodge No. 88, El Katif Shrine in Spokane, Whitman County Shrine Club, Hi-Yu Indians Trapshooters, Spokane Gun Club and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Three wives preceded him in death: Blanche Turnley died in 1949, Doris Woolverton died in 1975, and Virginia Jacobs Dilts died in 1994.
Survivors include three sons, D.M. Johnson Jr. of Cheney, Clark Johnson of Garfield and Jeff Johnson of Spokane; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Garfield Emergency Medical Technicians or the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Chiyeko Yorioka Spokane
Memorial service for Chiyeko Yorioka, 81, will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Ball and Dodd Funeral HomeSouth. Inurnment will be at a later date on Vashon Island, Wash.
Mrs. Yorioka, who was born in Seattle, died June 2.
She was a 52-year Spokane resident and worked for American Laundry for more than 25 years.
Mrs. Yorioka is survived by her husband of 57 years, Kengo; a son, Richard Yorioka of Hilo, Hawaii; three daughters, Patricia Yorioka of Spokane, Judy Wong of Seattle and Kathryn Migaki of Camas, Wash.; and six grandchildren.
Gary Powell Clark Fork, Idaho
Service for Gary Dean Powell, 38, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. Burial will follow at the Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.
Mr. Powell, who was born in Morton, Wash., died Sunday from injuries he suffered in a logging accident near Clark Fork.
He grew up in Mossyrock, Wash., and graduated from high school there in 1977.
Mr. Powell worked for Tacoma City Light and also for Grant County Public Utilities Department at the Priest Rapids Dam in Mattawa, Wash.
He moved to Clark Fork in 1989 and worked for Washington Water Power as a hydro operator at the Cabinet Gorge Dam. He also operated a family logging business near the Montana state line.
Mr. Powell was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 77.
Survivors include his wife, Shelly; three sons, Jeremy, Ty and Devyn, all of Clark Fork; two stepchildren, Jesse Bopp of Sagle, Idaho, and Enid Bopp of Clark Fork; his parents, Harold and Dorothy Powell of Salkum, Wash.; a brother, Harold Powell of Alaska; four sisters, Elaine Jasperson of Coupeville, Wash., Linda Welch of Renton, Wash., Ellen Berdan of Salkum, and Diane Taylor of Tenino, Wash.; and one stepgrandchild.
Raymond Robke Spokane
Vigil service for Raymond H. Robke, 69, will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Graveside service will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Robke, who died Monday, was born in Baileyville, Kan.
He had lived in Spokane for 48 years and was a truck driver for Safeway.
Mr. Robke was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Knights of Columbus, and the Eagles Lodge No. 2.
His wife of 39 years, Theresa, died in 1990.
Survivors include two sons, Dave Robke of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Jim Robke of Spokane; two daughters, Paula Reed of Frenchtown, Mont., and Mary Colliton of Omaha, Neb.; three brothers, Al and Joe Robke, both of Seneca, Kan., and Herb Robke of Kansas City, Mo.; three sisters, Mary Ann Vondenkamp of Seneca, Rita Kelly of Kansas City, Mo., and Sharon Hurley of Wichita, Kan.; and eight grandchildren.
Donald Graden Spokane
No service will be held for Donald E. Graden, 69, at his request. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Graden, who was born in Bismarck, N.D., died Sunday.
He served in the Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired after 22 years of service as a staff sergeant.
He played for the Spokane Indians baseball team from 1947 to 1948 and for the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1948 to 1950.
He was a 20-year Spokane resident.
Mr. Graden is survived by his wife of 16 years, Marilyn; his mother, Frances Graden of Spokane; three sons, Donald Graden of Spokane, and Joe and Kevin Graden both of Ohio; three stepchildren, Linda, Randy, and Kelly Caul all of Spokane; two half-sisters, Earlyne Long of Spokane and Peggy Skrenes of Alabama; and six stepgrandchildren.
Bill Furumasu Greenacres
No service will be held for Bill T. Furumasu, 81, at his request. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Furumasu, a 47-year Spokane area resident, died Monday.
He was born in Montavilla, Ore.
He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the 442nd Battalion, Regimental Combat Team.
Mr. Furumasu was a farmer and a member of the Spokane Valley Garden Club.
Survivors include his wife, Fujie; two sons, Russell Furumasu of Franklin, Wis., and Stacey Furumasu of Spokane; three brothers, Charles Furumasu of Spokane, Yosh Furumasu of Coeur d’Alene and Sam Furumasu of Los Altos, Calif.; two sisters, Fumi Furumasu of Spokane and Toshi Tsugawa of Oregon City, Ore.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Spokane Valley United Methodist Church.
Alice Sherrick Spokane
Memorial service for Alice O. Sherrick, 80, will be held at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Sherrick, who was born in Panaca, Nev., died Sunday.
She had lived in Spokane for 25 years and worked as a chef. She later volunteered for the YMCA making children’s lunches.
Mrs. Sherrick is survived by a daughter, Marsha Moore of Spokane.
Betty Cote Durham Woodinville, Wash.
Memorial service for Betty Ann Cote Durham, 72, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Holy Cross Cemetery. Inurnment will follow. Green Funeral Home in Bellevue, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Durham, who was born in Devil’s Lake, N.D., died May 24.
She graduated from Whitworth College and had worked as a nurse at Holy Family Hospital.
Mrs. Durham had lived in Spokane for 35 years and moved to Woodinville in 1992.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cote.
Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Giant of Woodinville; two sisters, Phyllis Kiene of Sequim, Wash., and Beverly Boyle of Spokane; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Thomas Craig Brea, Calif.
Service for Thomas L. “Tom” Craig, 88, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. Burial will follow at the Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.
Mr. Craig, who was born in Sagle, Idaho, died Friday.
He attended Bonner County schools and worked as a machinist in the aircraft industry and the space program in Southern California. He also worked in the timber industry in North Idaho.
Mr. Craig retired in 1972 and moved to Sandpoint. He moved to California in 1996.
Two wives preceded him in death, Alberta died in 1978, and Ruby died in 1993.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris Nelson-Carlson of California; a son, Albert Craig of Mead; a brother, James “Les” Craig of Priest River, Idaho; and six grandchildren.
