Former Rep. Randy Tate, a Republican from Puyallup who was defeated after only one term in the House, reportedly will be the new executive director of the Christian Coalition. Conservative favorite Tate, 31, will succeed Ralph Reed, the 8-year-old organization’s first director. The group has been on the defensive since charges that it used mail and telephone banks to get friendly voters to the polls. It also was accused of using corporate funds on behalf of Republicans.
