Fire Guts Home In Spokane Valley
FOR THE RECORD (June 4, 1997): Incorrect address: A Monday morning fire gutted a house at 1004 E. Decatur in north Spokane. A story and headline in Tuesday’s Spokesman-Review gave an incorrect address.
Flames gutted a single-story home in the Spokane Valley early Monday, forcing one resident to escape out a bedroom window.
The house at 10004 E. Decatur was equipped with three smoke detectors, but none worked, fire officials said.
No injuries were reported. Two men were sleeping in the home when the fire started shortly before 6 a.m.
The fire was started by an electric cooking pot in the kitchen that was left running, fire investigator Mike Zambryski said. No damage estimate was available.
