Darigold Recalls Ice Cream With Ammonia-Like Odor
Darigold Inc. has recalled vanilla ice cream distributed in Spokane, North Idaho and western Montana.
A “limited quantity” of the ice cream, produced June 23, smells like ammonia and has a bitter flavor. If eaten, it may cause a burning sensation, the Seattle-based company warned.
After receiving about six complaints, Darigold removed the product from store freezers Wednesday, officials said.
Anyone who purchased the ice cream recently should check the end flap of the box for the number 1747. The product shouldn’t be eaten if it has an ammonia-like odor.
Call Darigold at 1-800-595-3310 for a replacement.
The cause of the contamination hasn’t been determined. No illnesses have been reported.
