Man Found In River May Be Murder Victim
City and county detectives are investigating the possibility that a Spokane man found in the Spokane River was murdered.
The body of Andrey Alex Lebedinsky, 18, was discovered at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday pressed against the debris gates at Upriver Dam.
He was identified through fingerprints on file with local police.
Since October, Lebedinsky had been arrested on charges including obstructing a police officer, disorderly conduct, possession of alcohol by a minor and possession of stolen property, said sheriff’s Deputy David Reagan.
Lebedinsky was reported missing Saturday after being involved in a late Friday night fight at Minnehaha Park on East Upriver Drive.
Authorities believe Lebedinsky was one of eight men with knives, chains and guns who attacked four people in a parking lot. One man was stabbed in the back.
Witnesses said the attackers smelled like they had been drinking and told the victims they wanted to “have some fun.”
An autopsy performed Wednesday did not reveal a cause of death. Investigators are waiting toxicology results.
