Man Arrested For Possession Of Stolen Property
Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 45-year old Salt Lake City man after he allegedly stole a credit card and used it to rent a green Cadillac.
The man also stole a driver’s license that said his age was 30, deputies said.
A Spokane County sheriff’s deputy arrested Lester Van Dixon June 26 after questioning him in the parking lot of Prudential Crane Realty at 7407 N. Division, sheriff’s spokesman Dave Reagan said.
Employees at the office told deputies about Van Dixon after they saw him “acting strange” in the parking lot, Reagan said.
Van Dixon showed an investigating deputy a driver’s license that didn’t look like him and listed his age incorrectly, Reagan said. Van Dixon then gave a bogus excuse about the photo.
“He said he was injured in a chemical spill and that accident altered his appearance,” Reagan said.
The investigating deputy did a background check of the car and driver’s license, which had both been reported stolen in Salt Lake City.
Van Dixon was arrested and booked into Spokane County Jail for possession of stolen property, a first-degree felony, Reagan said.
Man arrested for assault
Spokane police arrested a man for beating a woman early Sunday morning.
Police arrested the man for domestic violence assault after responding to a call at the Pineridge Apartments, 40 E. Pine Ridge Ct., at 2:15 a.m., police spokesman Dick Cottam said.
Police found the 25-year-old victim with multiple facial injuries, including a fractured bone in her face.
The woman told police she had been hit in the head with a ceramic pot and kicked in the ribs and head. She was transported by ambulance to an area hospital and released, Cottam said.
James Allen Shoemaker, 36, was later arrested at his home at 7106 N. Hamilton. He was booked into Spokane County Jail. He has a record of convictions for assault, driving under the influence and possession of cocaine, Cottam said.
Pot, man on ice
An ice chest full of marijuana landed a man in the cooler last week.
Spokane County sheriff’s deputies arrested the man on June 24 and booked him into jail after serving a search warrant at his home and finding harvested marijuana, spokesman Dave Reagan said.
Thomas E. Barton, 36, of 4923 N. Napa, was booked for manufacturing a controlled substance after 47 freshly cut pot plants were discovered in an ice chest on the back porch of his home, Reagan said.
Numerous pieces of equipment used to grow the pot were also found and confiscated. Detectives obtained the search warrant after receiving information from confidential sources, Reagan said.
Burglar gets jewelry
A burglar robbed a Spokane woman of $4,000 in jewels from her home early Sunday morning.
Sheriff’s deputies are asking local pawn shops to be on the lookout for the stolen merchandise.
The suspect robbed a house along the 8100 block of North Excell and stole an Othello High School class graduation ring from the late ‘40s, sheriff’s spokesman Dave Reagan said.
The ring was 14 karat gold with six diamonds and an oval amethyst. Also stolen was a 14 karat ruby ring and a blue topaz ring, Reagan said.
