Unexplained Smell Cancels Classes Again
The kids at East Glacier Park School aren’t just griping when they say school stinks.
School officials have canceled classes again for today, the third day, because of a bad odor that no one has been able to track down.
The school has about 80 students from kindergarten through eighth grade and 13 staff members.
The odor was first noticed last Monday, and then several teachers and students reported severe headaches. As a precautionary measure, the school was closed Thursday and again Friday.
Browning Fire Marshall Stew Miller said he took air samples Thursday but preliminary tests with gas detectors did not determine what was causing the odor.
The state Department of Environmental Quality also is taking samples, Miller said.
