Woman Struck As Restaurant Robbed
A 32-year-old woman was hit in the head with a gun as two masked men robbed a trendy downtown restaurant.
The incident at Spazzo Mediterranean Grill occurred just after noon Sunday, three hours before the restaurant normally opens. The robbers made off with an unknown amount of money.
The woman, a bookkeeper, was working in the restaurant’s office when the men burst in and began ransacking the room. One of them struck the woman in the head with a gun and she fell to the floor, Lt. Denny Bronson said.
A 29-year-old assistant manager apparently heard the commotion and entered the office. The armed man pointed the gun near the manager’s head and fired one round, which apparently lodged in the ceiling, Bronson said.
The suspects then tied up the employees, took several bank bags and fled.
The employees were able to free themselves and call police.
The injured woman was treated at Overlake Hospital for head cuts.
