All-Stars Due

Western Hockey League stars are scheduled to arrive in Spokane at 12:15 p.m. today on a chartered flight out of Calgary.

Fewer than 400 tickets remain for Wednesday night’s WHL all-star game in the Arena. Top players from the WHL West, led by five Spokane Chiefs, meet a combined team from the Central and East divisions at 7:30.

Greg Leeb, John Cirjak, Trent Whitfield, Hugh Hamilton and Derek Schutz from Spokane will play for the West.

Chiefs general manager Tim Speltz, who escaped serious injury in Sunday night’s crash of the Chiefs team bus near Cranbrook, British Columbia, said the East/Central team is scheduled to practice at 3 o’clock today. The West works out at 4:15.

Both sessions at the Arena are free and open to the public.
