Sketch Of Suspected Cosby Killer Released

From Wire Reports

Police on Saturday released composite sketches of a suspect and a possible witness in the slaying of Ennis Cosby after they reinterviewed a woman who may have seen the killer.

Police also are investigating whether the suspect is the same man at large in the “cold-blooded” shooting of a sheriff’s deputy at Lake Tahoe last month.

The suspect was described as a white man of average height and weight who was wearing a knit cap, Cmdr. Tim McBride said at a news conference. He was said to be clean shaven and between the ages of 25 and 32.

The sketch was based on information from a female friend who found Cosby’s body and numerous 911 calls, McBride said.

The woman, a 47-year-old screenwriter, reportedly drove off early Thursday when she saw a suspicious man near the spot where Bill Cosby’s only son fixed a flat tire. She returned moments later and found Cosby, 27, dead.

Cosby was gunned down by the side of his Mercedes-Benz sometime before 1:45 a.m. Thursday after he stopped to change a flat.

Police began considering a possible link to the Lake Tahoe shooting Saturday night after officials released the composite drawing of the suspect.

Authorities in Los Angeles and the Placer County sheriff’s office said they received calls from citizens Saturday night who had seen the sketch on television, saying it looked like the suspected in the “wanted” poster circulating at Tahoe.

Placer County Undersheriff Steve D’Arcy said he passed on the sketch and details of the deputy’s shooting to Los Angeles homicide detectives Saturday night.

“They have our sketch, and they are also struck by the similarity,” D’Arcy said.

Placer County Sheriff’s Deputy William Doyle, 48, who is recovering from his wounds, was shot around 2 a.m. Dec. 15 when he shined his flashlight on a slim- built man lying on Kings Beach on the north shore of Lake Tahoe. The suspect emptied all 10 rounds in a 9 mm handgun in an attempt to kill the deputy, D’Arcy said. Doyle was shot in the knee, shoulder and hand.

Sketches in both cases depict a white male wearing a watch cap and having sunken cheekbones, tight lips and similar eyes and nose.
