Groskreutz second

Spokane driver Mark Groskreutz wound up in second place in points standings for the late model division Sunday as the NASCAR Winter Heat Series concluded at Tucson (Ariz.) Raceway Park.

Greg Biffle of Vancouver, Wash., drove to victory in the final event of the three-race series. Carl Trimmer of Tucson won the series championship by placing second, just a few feet ahead of Groskreutz.

Trimmer and Groskreutz shared the point lead entering Sunday’s race.

Groskreutz plans to race in Phoenix before heading north for NASCAR’s Northwest Tour, which begins in late March.
