Andrus’ Top Adviser Montgomery Dies
Bob Montgomery, banking executive and top adviser to former Gov. Cecil Andrus, died Sunday night.
Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel said services tentatively were set at the chapel Thursday afternoon.
Montgomery, 73, was a member of the state Board of Education. He served as campaign treasurer to Andrus during many of his political races and remained close to the exgovernor.
Born in Chicago, Montgomery was a navigator in the Fifth Air Force during World War II.
He graduated from the University of Utah and Georgetown. Montgomery joined Idaho Bank & Trust in 1952 after working for Chase Manhattan Bank and the Commercial Banks of Utah. In 1963, he was promoted from senior vice president of Idaho Bank & Trust to executive vice president.
He was member of various chambers, and past president of the Pocatello chamber.
