Three Die In Montana Traffic Crashes

Associated Press

Three more people have died in traffic crashes on Montana’s highways, raising this year’s death toll to four, compared with one on Jan. 3, 1996.

Carl James May, 46, of Florence died Thursday night in a rollover crash on Montana 200 west of Simms, the Highway Patrol said.

Lieutenant Mike Frellick said May was eastbound when his car drifted off the right side of the road. He overcorrected, causing the car to roll three times. Frellick said May probably fell asleep at the wheel.

And on Friday afternoon, two people died on old Montana 10 near Bozeman when their vehicle and a gravel truck collided head-on.

A man and woman were killed, but their names and home towns have not been released. The driver of the gravel truck was not hurt, the patrol said.

Reports indicate the highway was icy and that it was snowing and windy.
