The 10 candidates for the outstanding collegiate woman athlete award to be presented during the NCAA Convention Jan. 12 at Atlanta are: Kim Arnold, Georgia, gymnastics; Heather Bowie, Texas, golf; Cindy Daws, Notre Dame, soccer; Chamique Holdsclaw, Tennessee, basketball; Trinity Johnson, South Carolina, softball; Angelica Ljungquist, Hawaii, volleyball; Lilia Osterloh, Stanford, tennis; Kristine Quance, Southern California, swimming; Amy Skieresz, Arizona, cross country/track and field; and Cindy Werley, North Carolina, field hockey.

Equestrian Amanda P. Warrington, 29, who had been in a coma since falling from a horse during trials Sept. 20, has died in Wilmington, Del.

Warrington represented the United States at the Three-Day Event at Blenheim Castle, England, in 1996. She also won the U.S. Advanced National championship that year.

The United States swimming team was subjected to blanket drug-testing at its training camp shortly after arriving for next month’s World Championships in Perth, Australia.

At the request of Australian Swimming, the International Swimming Federation began precompetition testing to cover most of the swimmers in the tournament. Up to 500 swimmers will be tested when they arrive in Australia.
