Oates Gets New Contract

Compiled From Wire Services

Center Adam Oates signed a new three-year contract with the Washington Capitals.

Oates had been seeking to renegotiate his current agreement since joining the NHL team in March in a trade with the Boston Bruins.

Financial terms weren’t disclosed, although the Washington Post reported it is worth $3 million a year and contains an option for a fourth season.

A 12-year National Hockey League veteran, Oates has 258 goals and 738 assists in 826 career games.

Tie Domi, considered one of the top enforcers in the NHL, signed a new five-year, $7.2 million deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
